We’ve refreshed our website a bit to make it easier to keep up with the various projects of Legacy Parks Foundation (and other things of interest).
West Hills Park: We’re digging in to create a natural surface trail in the woods. The new trail will be a great asset to the already wonderful park and will allow park-goers a chance to take a walk in the woods! The trail will be named the Scott Cleland Trail, in memory of a long-time resident of the neighborhood.
Collier Preserve: Volunteers from Keep Knoxville Beautiful and the Master Gardeners will be there Saturday, Nov. 19, from 10 a.m. until noon. We might have as many as 50 volunteers in the Preserve. Tasks include planting native species, removing invasive species and picking up litter, if any. Other volunteers will be working at Powell Station Park.
McBee Ferry Landing: Joe Mack, senior director of Parks & Rec for Knox County, reports that work is underway at this county park. Knox County is currently creating a parking area and will improve/move the entrance to the park and access to the boat ramp. “Once that work is done (expected to be completed this month) work will begin on the installation of the picnic tables, benches and trash cans. TWRA is going to be renovating the boat ramp itself and we don’t have a time frame on that.” Thanks to Mike Donila for this update.
