• Halls Community Prayer Breakfast is set for 7:30 a.m. Friday, March 30, at Beaver Dam Baptist Church. The guest speaker is Don Dare, consumer reporter with WATE-TV. It is sponsored by the Halls Business and Professional Association. Tickets are $15 and may be reserved/purchased by calling Sue Walker at Tindell’s, 925-9200.
  • Powell Easter Egg Hunt will be Saturday, March 31, in Powell Station Park. PBPA businesses will be passing out free food and goodies. Registration starts at noon with the hunt beginning around 1:30 p.m. with four age groups and over $1,000 in prizes including a bicycle, scooters, large stuffed animals and more. There will be bounce houses and slides, a small train for rides and a real fire truck, live animals in the petting zoo and lots of rabbits. This is another way the Powell businesses say thank you to the community.
  • Candidates for Knox County Mayor will speak in a League of Women Voters-sponsored forum 6:30-8:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 11, at West High School. Republicans Brad Anders, Glenn Jacobs and Bob Thomas; Democrats Linda Haney and Rhonda Gallman. The local NAACP is co-sponsoring. All are invited.
