Karen Harte Schito, 52, died on October 16, 2024, after a battle with glioblastoma (brain cancer). After relocating to Tennessee in 2017, Ms. Schito became the principal of Foothills Elementary School in the Maryville School District.
Karen was born in Forrest City, Pennsylvania, and never quit learning. She attained a degree in elementary education in 1994, followed by a master’s degree and certifications in educational administration including principal (K-12) and superintendent.
Her legacy as an educator in both Pennsylvania and Tennessee will be remembered as many have been inspired by her ability to connect with students, families and colleagues, according to her obituary (here).
She and husband Sal had three boys: Albert (AJ), Salvatore (Sal Sal) and Gabe.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 27, 2024, from 1-3 p.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, 858 Louisville Road, Alcoa, Tennessee. A mass of Christian Burial will follow at 3 p.m. with a light reception afterward.
