Halls consumers lost a champion with the death on May 5, 2024, of Bonita “Bonnie” Holloway, age 80. Bonnie and husband Gene lived in Halls Heights, and I met them when Beaver Creek flooded into their backyard. Somehow Bonnie conflated the flooding with suspect management at Hallsdale-Powell Utility District. She was not content to complain.

Mrs. Holloway surely attended more HPUD board meetings than anybody not on the board (and maybe more than some who were). She became quite knowledgeable and earned the respect of HPUD staff. Bonnie represented the best of Halls: smart, fearless and willing to learn and grow.

She opted not to have funeral services, but family said a celebration of life will be held at a later date. Her obituary is here.
