- Tennessee Clean Water Network Dragon Boat Race will be held at 8 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 26, at Volunteer Landing downtown. “Watching the teams paddle down the Tennessee River in authentic 46-foot dragon boats is great family fun,” said TCWN executive director Renee Hoyos. The event is free and open to the public.
Tom Spangler, candidate for sheriff, will host a drop-by reception from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 24, at the Historic Southern Railway Station, 300 W. Depot Ave. A donation of $50 is requested, but not required.
Legacy Parks Foundation, Balter Beerworks and REI will host a special event 6-10 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 24, at 100 S. Broadway. This is the first such fundraiser to benefit Legacy Parks Foundation. REI will provide outdoor games and offer free bicycle tune-ups to anyone who rides their bike to Balter. Raffle prizes will be announced at 8 p.m.
