• Larsen Jay, candidate for Knox County Commission at-large, will host a thank-you barbecue for some 200 emergency workers at the main firehall, 600 Summit Hill Dr., from noon-2 p.m. Saturday, July 29. This marks the 10th anniversary of Jay’s accident that led him to found Random Acts of Flowers.
  • Back to School Bash, sponsored by Mayor Tim Burchett, will be 3-6 p.m. Monday, Aug. 7, at Knoxville Expo Center, 5441 Clinton Hwy. The free event is an opportunity for students to get free school supplies, health screenings and more.
  • Central High School Triennial Golden Grad Reunion will be held Saturday, Aug. 12, at the Rothchild Event Center, 8807 Kingston Pike. Check in at 4 p.m. with dinner at 6.
