Wallace McClure: Real estate and West Knox icon

The family of Wallace McClure Jr. will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Friday, June 28, 2024, at Rose Funeral & Cremation – Mann. Mr. McClure, a noted Realtor, died June 11 at age 93. He was a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church Knoxville.

Born in Knoxville, he lived here for almost a century. He attended the University of Tennessee where he earned a bachelor’s and master’s degree. While at UT, he was the manager of the track team and was in ROTC. After graduation, he served in the US Army in Europe from 1950-53.

He owned McClure Realty Company, spending over 70 years in the profession. He was active in East Tennessee Realtors, The Home Builders Association of Greater Knoxville, was a Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM), was Realtor of the Year in 2003, and received the Realtor Emeritus Award. Wallace was an avid tennis player and was close friends with UT icons Haywood Harris, Gus Manning and John Ward.

He is survived and will be greatly missed by his son, Wally McClure, and his wife, Ronda; grandchildren, Kirsten McClure and Brad McClure; and many other extended family and friends. His full obituary is here.
