One of my favorite people, Jackie Raley, went on vacation to Siesta Key so I was there soaking up the sun and sand, watching her drink her famous coffee.
Siesta Key off the coast of Sarasota, Florida, is a little over 80 miles from Fort Myers. A barrier island, known for its sandy beaches is called by Jackie, “the most beautiful beach in the world.”
The key is home to Patriots Pier, 10 Beach Road, where it is Veterans Day every day. A nightly recognition of our military is attended by both young and old, residents and tourists, when the flags are lowered to Taps at sunset. The flags are raised to Reveille at 8 a.m. Both occur rain or shine, no matter what the weather.
