Gary D. Chandler, 63, passed away on June 28, 2024. He taught and coached in the Union County Public Schools for 41 years and served as mayor of Plainview, Tennessee, for 14 years. Gary worked hard, coached hard and deeply loved his family.
He and his sister were raised by a single mom in Luttrell, Tennessee. Gary always appreciated the support of relatives and family friends to provide what he called “a great childhood.”
Funeral services were held Sunday at Trinity Funeral Home in Maynardville. Family and friends will meet 10 a.m. today (7/1/24) to proceed to Shoffner Cemetery in Sharps Chapel for an 11 a.m. graveside service. His full obituary is here.
